Understanding the science of well-being
The pandemic accelerated the future of work. The workplace as we know it has possibly changed forever.
One of the more radical shifts is in the areas of employee well-being and mental health. Not only is well-being now considered an important human capital priority, but it has become a key strategic imperative for Boards, the C-suite and Government leaders alike. According to the World Economic Forum1, there is increased awareness of how well-being links to “business performance, operational resiliency and sustainability.”
However, in our view, prioritizing well-being goes well beyond popular HR jargon and business rhetoric. For most employers, organizational and HR leaders, the early 2020s have been a wakeup call. Fueled by global events ranging from the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, to challenging economic and business headwinds, to record breaking resignations and skills shortages, organizations have managed a lot up upheaval.
As organizations continue to adapt to a fast-evolving environment, a focus on well-being must lie at the heart of the employee experience.
