2025 Theme: Swing state
The theme for this year’s Global Investment Forum, "Swing State," reflects an investment environment defined by shifting dynamics. The past four years have been marked by powerful shifts—from the COVID-19 pandemic to escalating conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East—that continue to reshape the global landscape and challenge conventional portfolio thinking.
Inflationary pressures appear to be subsiding, setting interest rates on a downward swing, while market concentration has reached historic highs, heightening systemic risk from a handful of dominant companies. At the same time, government debt in developed economies remains strained, and emissions continue to rise despite technological advances.
As we assess where we are in this pendulum swing, understanding the potential impacts on portfolios will be critical. Each swing presents risks and opportunities, calling for a balanced approach and an expanded perspective to navigate an unpredictable path forward.
